4th of July Fireworks Hike


Destination: Shadow Mountain Lookout Tower, Rocky Mountain National Park

Hiking Difficulty: 4.8 miles one-way, 1,500 foot elevation gain (Lung Burner)

Duration: Day Hike

Departure Time: 4:00 P.M. Gear Check at the Grand Lake Visitor Center, Tuesday 7/4

The Nitty Gritty: The East Shore Trail winds along Shadow Mountain Lake for the first mile, with Osprey nest and the chance to catch these magnificent birds fishing for dinner.  After that, hikers will begin to climb toward the Fire Lookout.  This area provides views of Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby, as well as the surrounding Park and Forest land.  What is even better than watching the sunset from this vantage point?  Watching the famous Grand Lake Fireworks display over Colorado’s largest and deepest natural lake.  Celebrate America like the pioneer you are, with this hike to the top.  Your guides will hike down with you by headlamp for a truly unforgettable experience.
